France's Kylian Mbappé is adjusting to wearing a protective mask as he prepares for a potential return to action against Poland at Euro 2024 on Tuesday, according to teammate Aurélien Tchouaméni.
Mbappé missed France's recent 0-0 draw with the Netherlands after sustaining a nose injury during their opening 1-0 victory over Austria. He has since been fitted with a protective mask to aid his recovery.
"Kylian is eager for the upcoming match, and he's gradually getting used to the mask," Tchouaméni commented on Sunday. "While he would prefer to play without it, the medical advice dictates otherwise. Regardless, we are confident he will perform once he steps onto the field and contribute significantly to our team."
In addition to his national team duties, Mbappé is set to join Real Madrid following the conclusion of the European Championship, where he will reunite with Tchouaméni.
Reflecting on France's performance so far, Tchouaméni highlighted the team's focus on improving their finishing after scoring only one goal in their initial two group-stage matches at Euro 2024.
"We acknowledge the caliber of our strikers, and we are working collectively to enhance our goal-scoring efficiency," Tchouaméni remarked. "This responsibility extends beyond the forwards to midfielders and defenders alike. Precision in front of goal remains a key area for us to refine."
France, the runner-up in the recent World Cup, is determined to elevate its performance as it progresses through the tournament, aiming for further success under Mbappé's leadership.
