Germany's provisional squad for Euro 2024 has been announced, with experienced duo Manuel Neuer and Toni Kroos set to potentially feature in their fourth European Championships.
Midfield maestro Kroos, aged 34, who retired from international duty in July 2021, reversed his decision in March after discussions with head coach Julian Nagelsmann.
Neuer, aged 38, returns to the national team fold after a hiatus since 2022 due to a leg injury sustained post the Qatar World Cup.
Bayern Munich's Leon Goretzka and Serge Gnabry miss out, along with Tottenham's Timo Werner, sidelined with a hamstring issue.
Despite key contributions in Borussia Dortmund's Champions League journey, Mats Hummels and Julian Brandt are excluded from the initial 27-man roster, which will be trimmed to 26 after Germany's friendlies against Ukraine and Greece in June.
The squad features former Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan, Arsenal's Kai Havertz, and Brighton's Pascal Gross among others.
Germany, having faced disappointing exits at recent major tournaments, are considered strong contenders heading into Euro 2024, commencing their campaign against Scotland on June 14 in Munich.
