Manchester United has appointed former striker Ruud van Nistelrooy as one of their two new assistant coaches on Thursday.
Van Nistelrooy and former Go Ahead Eagles manager Rene Hake have joined Dutchman Erik ten Hag’s coaching staff, signing contracts until June 2026.
According to Ten Hag, "Now is a good time to refresh the coaching team as we look to build on the achievements of the past two years and push to the next level." Ten Hag remains at United after winning the FA Cup last season.
Van Nistelrooy, who previously scored 150 goals in 219 appearances for United from 2000-2006, returns to Old Trafford. He most recently coached PSV Eindhoven, resigning at the end of the 2022-23 season.
Hake, meanwhile, guided Go Ahead Eagles to a ninth-place finish in his sole season in charge last year.
In other news, Dutch midfielder Donny van de Beek has officially left United to join Spanish team Girona on a three-year deal.
