Enzo Maresca, the newly appointed manager of Chelsea, emphasized the importance of rebuilding the connection between the club and its supporters following a turbulent period at Stamford Bridge.
Maresca, 44, took over from Mauricio Pochettino last month after the Argentine departed by mutual consent. Previously managing Leicester, Maresca earned praise for swiftly returning the team to the top flight.
"We need to create the right mentality and culture that fans can take pride in," Maresca stated in an interview with the club's website. "Our goal is to play aggressively, both on and off the ball, and to establish a strong bond between the fans and the club, especially at home."
During Pochettino's tenure, as well as under previous managers Graham Potter and interim coach Frank Lampard, Chelsea's home games often saw frustrated fans expressing discontent towards players, management, and the club hierarchy.
Despite losing only one of their last 15 league matches, Chelsea concluded the season without silverware for the second consecutive year, securing qualification for the Europa Conference League.
"At a club like Chelsea, the expectation is to win," Maresca affirmed. "Our objective is to compete fiercely against other title contenders."
Maresca expressed confidence in the squad's talent, highlighting the need to foster a winning culture throughout the upcoming season.
