Chelsea have finalized the acquisition of Barcelona teenager Marc Guiu for a reported fee of £5m. Guiu joins the club on a five-year contract, with an option for an additional year.
Last week, Chelsea agreed in principle to activate Guiu's £5m release clause, despite efforts by Barcelona to negotiate its removal through a contract extension.
Guiu, an 18-year-old striker, has represented Spain at the Under-19 level and is noted for his rapid rise through Barcelona's renowned La Masia academy. His debut for Barcelona's senior team in 2023 saw him score a goal just 23 seconds into the match against Athletic Bilbao. Despite limited senior experience, Guiu has tallied two goals in seven appearances.
Chelsea views Guiu as a prospective addition to their first-team squad, aiming to strengthen their attacking options. Manager Enzo Maresca's side remains open to potentially bolstering their attacking lineup further during the summer transfer window.
