Brentford have finalized their club-record £30 million acquisition of striker Igor Thiago from Club Brugge.
The 23-year-old, Brentford's first Brazilian player, joins the Premier League after agreeing to the move earlier this year. Thiago is set to replace Ivan Toney, whose contract is nearing its end and who is considering a move to a larger club.
"I'm very happy to have signed for Brentford and to get to know the club," said Thiago.
Thiago, who scored 18 goals in 34 Belgian league matches during Brugge’s title-winning season, has been assigned the number nine shirt following Kevin Schade's switch to number seven.
"It's an immense source of happiness for me to play for this club in the Premier League," added Thiago.
He was named young player of the season in the Uefa Conference League last season.
"I think that throughout my career, since I left Brazil, I think that's what I was looking for - to gain good energy, win titles, make a name for myself, make history," Thiago continued.
