Chelsea Football Club is poised to finalize the acquisition of Barcelona's promising young talent, Marc Guiu, after agreeing in principle to activate his £5 million release clause. The London club is preparing to conduct a medical examination for the 18-year-old striker in the English capital.
Barcelona had attempted to renegotiate Guiu's contract to remove the relatively modest release clause, but negotiations with his agency have reportedly favored Chelsea. The Spanish Under-19 international, a product of Barcelona's renowned La Masia academy, made an immediate impact on his senior debut against Athletic Bilbao in 2023, scoring within 23 seconds.
Guiu, noted for his robust playing style and pace as a number nine, has accumulated two goals in seven senior appearances thus far. While expected to bolster Chelsea's first-team squad, the club remains open to additional attacking reinforcements this summer.
