Kieran McKenna has committed to Ipswich Town with a new four-year contract, cementing his role after guiding the club to the Premier League.
The 38-year-old's contract renewal at Portman Road follows a week of speculation that he might decline the club's offer. McKenna had been associated with the managerial vacancy at Brighton and was also shortlisted by Chelsea as a potential successor to Mauricio Pochettino, but he withdrew from contention for the Stamford Bridge position on Sunday.
"I am extremely proud to have signed a new contract with the club," McKenna told Ipswich Town's official website.
"We have enjoyed incredible success together over the last two seasons, and I’m excited to have the opportunity and responsibility of leading this fantastic club into its first season in the Premier League in 22 years."
McKenna's tenure has been marked by back-to-back automatic promotions, propelling Ipswich from League One to the Premier League for the first time since 2002. His achievements have made the former Manchester United assistant first-team coach one of the most respected and in-demand managers in English football.
