Tottenham Hotspur has reached an agreement to prolong Timo Werner's loan tenure from RB Leipzig until the culmination of the upcoming season.
The German forward, who initially joined Spurs on a temporary basis from the Bundesliga outfit in January, amassed 14 appearances across all competitions and netted twice during his stint.
Initially, Tottenham retained an option to secure Werner permanently for £15 million in the upcoming transfer window. However, the renewed agreement now includes a purchase option of £8.5 million.
Werner's contribution proved instrumental to Tottenham's squad dynamics last season, fortifying manager Ange Postecoglou's offensive choices until a hamstring injury sidelined him for the final five fixtures of the Premier League campaign.
Tottenham ultimately clinched fifth place in the Premier League standings and is slated to participate in the Europa League for the upcoming season.
With 24 goals from 57 international appearances for Germany, Werner last featured for his national team in a friendly against Belgium in March 2023.
Moreover, his tenure at Chelsea yielded 23 goals in 89 matches across two years, culminating in victories in the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup, before embarking on his return journey to RB Leipzig in 2022.
