Harry Wilson's dramatic late double in stoppage time handed Fulham a 2-1 victory over Brentford in their west London derby on Monday.
Brentford had taken the lead in the 24th minute when Vitaly Janelt fired a powerful shot from distance past Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno. Despite Fulham's strong start, including a denied effort from Reiss Nelson, they struggled to find the equalizer throughout much of the match.
Fulham's breakthrough came in added time when substitute Wilson scored his first goal by flicking a cross from Adama Traore over Brentford goalkeeper Mark Flekken. Just moments later, Wilson netted his second when an attempted header off his shoulder looped into the top corner of the net, wrong-footing Flekken.
Wilson reflected on his match-winning performance, saying, "It was an amazing feeling to come on and get the two goals to win the game. We deserved it, we kept them pinned in throughout."
The win moved Fulham up to ninth in the Premier League standings, just three points behind the top four. In contrast, Brentford's late collapse saw them remain in 12th place.
Brentford's defense had frustrated Fulham for most of the match, but the late surge handed Marco Silva’s side a valuable three points. Wilson's late heroics capped a match where Fulham finally capitalized on their 25th attempt on goal.
