American-born Fabian Hurzeler has made history by becoming the youngest recipient of the English Premier League's Manager of the Month award. The 31-year-old achieved this milestone on Friday, following an impressive start to his tenure at Brighton & Hove Albion.
Hurzeler, who was appointed as Brighton's permanent manager in June, is now the youngest manager ever to hold the position in the Premier League. Under his leadership, Brighton climbed to second place in the league by the end of August, having secured two wins and one draw in their first three matches.
“It’s always a nice trophy (to win) as it confirms your work. Not only my work but the work from the whole club, my staff members, the players,” Hurzeler stated. “It’s togetherness to win this trophy. Now it’s about winning the next one.”
Brighton began the season with consecutive victories over Everton and Manchester United and followed with a 1-1 draw against Arsenal before the international break. The team is set to face newly promoted Ipswich Town on Saturday.
Born in Texas and moving to Europe at the age of two, Hurzeler succeeded Roberto De Zerbi at Brighton. His contract with the club runs until 2027. Before joining Brighton, Hurzeler was with St. Pauli in Germany, where he was appointed as their second youngest coach at 29 years and 11 months in 2022.
