Newcastle United defender Kieran Trippier is aiming to leave the club this month in pursuit of first-team opportunities.
The 33-year-old England international did not feature in Newcastle's 1-0 victory over Southampton on Saturday, remaining an unused substitute. Trippier, who transferred to Newcastle from Atletico Madrid in 2022, now finds himself behind Tino Livramento, a former Southampton player, in the right-back hierarchy.
Newcastle previously blocked Trippier's departure in January amid interest from Bayern Munich and Saudi Arabian clubs.
Trippier is reportedly a target for Everton, where he could reunite with manager Sean Dyche. Dyche, who managed Trippier for three years at Burnley, commented on the speculation, saying, "He’s one of many names that has come up here. As if by magic, his name comes up when we don’t have a right-back available."
Everton will be missing full-back Ashley Young for their upcoming match against Tottenham, following his red card in the defeat to Brighton last weekend.
Trippier, who has earned 54 caps for England, started in the team’s first six Euro 2024 matches but was replaced by Luke Shaw for the final. The former Tottenham player has two years remaining on his contract with Newcastle.
