Brentford has secured the services of winger Fabio Carvalho from Liverpool in a deal valued at £27.5 million, including add-ons. The 21-year-old has signed a five-year contract with the option for an additional year.
As part of the agreement, Liverpool will receive an initial fee of £22.5 million and has included a 17.5% sell-on clause. Fulham, the club that sold Carvalho to Liverpool in 2022, will also benefit from this transfer, receiving 20% of the profit from the move to Brentford.
Brentford managed to outbid Southampton, who had a £15 million offer rejected by Liverpool, to secure Carvalho's signature.
During his time at Anfield, Carvalho struggled to make a significant impact, netting three goals in 21 competitive appearances. He began the 2023-24 season on loan at RB Leipzig but returned to Liverpool in December after primarily coming off the bench. He subsequently joined Championship side Hull City, where he scored nine goals in 20 games, helping the team narrowly miss out on the play-offs.
