Napoli will loan striker Victor Osimhen to Galatasaray for the 2024-2025 season, according to sources cited by The Athletic’s David Ornstein.
Osimhen, who failed to secure a transfer to Chelsea or Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli on deadline day, has agreed to Galatasaray’s terms. The deal includes a break clause, allowing Osimhen the option to leave for another club in January.
Napoli has also reduced Osimhen’s release clause to €75 million from €130 million, as reported by transfer insider Fabrizio Romano. This adjustment could facilitate a transfer in January.
The agreement does not include an option or obligation for Galatasaray to purchase Osimhen at the season’s end, Ornstein noted. However, Galatasaray will cover the striker’s reported €12 million annual salary.
Despite expressing a desire to leave Napoli as early as January, Osimhen was unable to secure a transfer this summer. Chelsea had reportedly reached an agreement with Napoli, but Osimhen and Chelsea could not finalize personal terms.
While the transfer window for Europe’s top five leagues has closed, Turkish clubs can continue to make signings until September 13. European clubs are allowed to sell players even after their transfer windows have closed.
Osimhen was a key player in Napoli’s 2023 Scudetto-winning season, scoring 26 goals. Last season, he netted 15 times as Napoli finished in 10th place.
At Galatasaray, Osimhen will join teammates Mauro Icardi, Dries Mertens, Michy Batshuayi, and Lucas Torreira.
