Juventus has completed the signing of Argentine winger Nicolas Gonzalez from Fiorentina in a deal potentially worth 38 million euros ($42.5 million). This move is part of the club's ongoing efforts to revamp its squad under new coach Thiago Motta.
According to Juventus, Gonzalez has been signed on a season-long loan for eight million euros with an obligation to buy for 25 million euros, plus an additional five million euros in bonuses contingent on achieving certain sporting objectives. "Given the high probability of the above conditions being achieved... this transaction qualifies as a definitive acquisition effective from today for a total amount of 33 million euros," the club stated.
Gonzalez, 26, joins Juventus after a three-year stint with Fiorentina. During his time with the Italian club, he was a runner-up in the last two editions of the Europa Conference League and the 2023 Italian Cup.
On the international stage, Gonzalez has made 39 appearances for Argentina, scoring five goals and contributing to the Albiceleste's victories in the most recent Copa America and the 2021 edition.
Juventus will face Verona on Monday night, but Gonzalez is expected to make his debut for his new club the following weekend when they host Roma.
Additionally, Juventus is expected to finalize the signing of Francisco Conceicao from Porto on a one-season loan reportedly valued at nine million euros. The club has also added players such as Douglas Luiz and Khepren Thuram during the summer transfer window and is pursuing Atalanta's star midfielder Teun Koopmeiners.
