French club Marseille are currently in advanced negotiations to acquire Tottenham Hotspur and Denmark midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. The 28-year-old is expected to leave north London, with a transfer fee set around £17 million.
The talks are focusing on the payment structure, but both parties anticipate the deal will be completed. Hojbjerg joined Tottenham in 2020 from Southampton for £15 million, during José Mourinho's tenure.
Last season, Hojbjerg made 39 appearances for Tottenham, though only 10 were as a starter, with manager Ange Postecoglou preferring Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr in central midfield roles.
Entering the final year of his contract, Hojbjerg will become a free agent in 2025 if no new agreement is reached. Tottenham have already bolstered their midfield this summer with the acquisitions of Archie Gray from Leeds and Lucas Bergvall from Swedish club Djurgårdens.
Marseille have been actively recruiting following the appointment of former Brighton manager Roberto de Zerbi. The club recently signed forward Mason Greenwood from Manchester United and midfielder Ismael Kone from Watford. Marseille are also reported to be interested in Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah.
