Manchester City have secured the services of Brazil winger Savinho from French club Troyes on a contract running until 2029. The transfer fee is reported to be 40 million euros (£30.8 million).
Savinho, 20, previously spent the last season on loan at Girona, where he made a notable impact as the club finished third in La Liga. Girona and Troyes are both affiliated with the City Football Group.
In his comments, Savinho praised Manchester City as the "best team in the world" and expressed enthusiasm about working under manager Pep Guardiola, whom he described as "one of the greatest coaches ever."
Explaining why he chose Manchester City, Savinho stated: "[Because of] everything I've seen today. I just got here this morning and I turned to my agent and stepfather and said, 'there was no way I was going to turn down Manchester City'."
Savinho, also known as Savio, began his career at Atletico Mineiro in Brazil before moving to Troyes in the summer of 2022. Although he did not play for Troyes in competitive matches, he was loaned to PSV Eindhoven for the 2022-23 season. He made eight appearances for PSV before experiencing a successful loan spell at Girona, where he scored 11 goals and provided 10 assists across all competitions. This performance led to his first senior call-up for Brazil in March, where he made his debut against England and scored his first international goal against Paraguay in the Copa America group stage.
City's director of football, Txiki Begiristain, commented: "He has a big role to play for Manchester City this season and beyond. We are totally confident in his ability. He is still young and has the potential to become even better, and everyone knows that Pep is the best at helping players develop even further. But he has already shown his huge quality and technical ability and is an exciting addition to our attacking area."
