Jude Bellingham, the 20-year-old midfielder from Real Madrid and England, has been named La Liga's Player of the Season for his outstanding debut year in Spain.
Bellingham's impressive tally of 19 league goals contributed significantly to Real Madrid's league triumph, securing the title with a comfortable 10-point lead.
In addition to his league exploits, the Stourbridge-born player found the net four times in the Champions League, propelling Carlo Ancelotti's side to the final showdown against Borussia Dortmund at Wembley Stadium this Saturday (20:00 BST).
Bellingham clinched the prestigious award ahead of esteemed contenders including teammate Vinicius Jr, Antoine Griezmann (Atletico Madrid), Artem Dovbyk (Girona), and Robert Lewandowski (Barcelona). The selection process involved votes from fans, club captains, and a panel of experts.
Prior to his stellar season with Real Madrid, Bellingham claimed the Bundesliga Player of the Season accolade for the 2022-23 season while representing Borussia Dortmund. His transfer to Real Madrid commanded a hefty initial fee of 103 million euros (£88.5 million).
Unable to attend Tuesday's award ceremony due to preparations for the upcoming final, Bellingham expressed his gratitude in a message, dedicating the honor to his teammates, coaching staff, and the fervent supporters of Real Madrid.
With 29 caps and three goals for England, Bellingham is poised to play a pivotal role in Gareth Southgate's squad at Euro 2024 in Germany, commencing on 14 June. England's campaign kicks off against Serbia in Gelsenkirchen on 16 June.
