Former Barcelona manager Xavi has issued a stark warning to his successor, suggesting that they will face significant challenges in the role.
Xavi, 44, was relieved of his duties before overseeing Barcelona's final fixture of the season, a 2-1 victory against Sevilla.
Hansi Flick, the former head coach of Germany and Bayern Munich, is poised to take over the managerial reins.
Initially intending to depart in January, Xavi had a change of heart and announced his decision to remain at Camp Nou in April, where he was under contract until 2025.
Addressing his replacement, Xavi stated, "To the new manager, I tell you: 'You will suffer.' This is a very complicated place to be. This is a difficult job and you have to be patient."
Having assumed the managerial role in November 2021, Xavi secured La Liga and the Spanish Super Cup in his inaugural full season. However, this campaign saw Barcelona finish second in La Liga, trailing champions Real Madrid by 10 points.
Xavi's dismissal occurred despite Barcelona confirming his continued presence at the club just a month prior. Allegedly, his remarks concerning the club's financial challenges reportedly irked president Joan Laporta.
Reflecting on his tenure, Xavi expressed a sense of underappreciation, stating, "I have the feeling that everything I have done in these two and a half years has caused an earthquake." He further added, "I have been targeted many times in many situations."
Acknowledging the decision to relieve him of his duties, Xavi conceded, "I had no choice but to accept it. It doesn't matter if I agree with the arguments."
While open to future opportunities, Xavi emphasized the need for rest following his departure, remarking, "It's so difficult to coach Barcelona." Despite the recent challenges, he affirmed, "It's been tough last week, but I have my conscience very clear. I'm proud and happy."
