La Liga president Javier Tebas has confirmed that Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe will be joining Real Madrid next season.
The 25-year-old French captain recently announced his departure from PSG at the end of his contract this summer, without specifying his next destination. However, Madrid appears to be the chosen club after years of pursuit.
"He's Madrid's next season, yes," Tebas affirmed to Argentine daily sports newspaper Ole on Monday.
Mbappe's arrival will bolster a star-studded Madrid squad led by Brazilian forward Vinicius Junior and English midfielder Jude Bellingham.
Los Blancos have dominated in the Spanish league, clinching the title comfortably and are set to face Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League final at Wembley on June 1.
"(Mbappe) is one of the best players in the world, but Vinicius and Bellingham are there too. Madrid will have a great squad," noted Tebas. "But that does not guarantee you will win leagues."
Mbappe, PSG's all-time leading scorer with 256 goals since his arrival from Monaco in 2017 for €180 million ($194 million), has secured six French league titles but fell short in Champions League glory, finishing as runners-up to Bayern Munich in 2020.
With a move to Real Madrid, a club with a record 14 Champions League titles, Mbappe aims to enhance his chances of claiming football's most prestigious club trophy.
