Germany, having conceded their earliest goal in 50 years, managed to draw 2-2 away at the Netherlands in their Nations League match on Tuesday.
The match began with a shock for Germany as Tijjani Reijnders scored for the Netherlands just 99 seconds into the game, marking the quickest goal conceded by Germany in five decades.
In the early stages, Germany struggled to cope with the pressure, and the Dutch had several chances to extend their lead. However, the visitors managed to equalize in the 38th minute when Deniz Undav scored from a rebound following a shot by Florian Wirtz. Just before halftime, Joshua Kimmich gave Germany a brief lead, scoring from an Undav pass in the third minute of stoppage time.
The second half saw the Netherlands level the score at 51 minutes when Denzel Dumfries scored after Jamal Musiala lost possession in the box. Shortly afterward, Germany had a chance to regain the lead, but Kai Havertz missed an open goal, hitting the ball over the bar.
Both teams had previously secured significant victories in their Nations League group, with Germany defeating Hungary 5-0 and the Netherlands overcoming Bosnia and Herzegovina 5-2.
Despite the absence of striker Niclas Fuellkrug, who withdrew on matchday, Germany's coach Julian Nagelsmann opted not to shift Kai Havertz back to center-forward. Instead, he started Deniz Undav, marking his first appearance for Germany.
The Netherlands' early goal came after Liverpool’s Ryan Gravenberch found Reijnders behind Germany’s high defensive line. Reijnders calmly finished past Marc-André ter Stegen.
Germany’s defensive lapse almost led to a second Dutch goal in the 15th minute, but Dumfries headed over an open goal.
The final score remained 2-2, leaving both teams level on points in their Nations League group, with Germany leading on goal difference.
